30 Seconds to Mars es una banda de rock estadounidense liderada por el también actor Jared Leto. La fundó junto a su hermano Shannon, y algún tiempo después se unió Tomo Milicevic, quedando el grupo con la formación actual. El nombre lo sacaron de una tesis de un antiguo profesor de Harvard, uno de los capítulos se titulaba 30 seconds to mars –30 segundos para Marte- haciendo referencia al avance de la tecnología humana, gracias a la cual estamos literalmente a 30 segundos de Marte. La banda se sintió totalmente identificada con esto y adoptó el nombre.
Desde sus inicios han cosechado muchos éxitos, ganando adeptos por todo el mundo. Pero más que fans, sus seguidores son creyentes, de hecho se hacen llamar believers o Echelons – título de una canción del primer disco –, y entre ellos se llaman hermanos echelons. Yo no llego hasta tanto, porque todo lo que suene a religión me parece un fiasco, pero sí que me gusta su música y, por qué no decirlo, su cantante, al que ya le seguía su trayectoria como actor.

Conocí a este grupo hace unos añitos de causualidad y por supuesto a Jared Leto en su faceta de actor; el video de “Hurricane” lo vi por primera vez hace un mes aproximadamente y por no decir que es de lo más raro que he visto voy a alegar que cuanto menos es muy peculiar, a mí me dejó muy sorprendida.
Yo no me considero una “believer” del grupo ni mucho menos, pero me gusta escuchar muchas de sus canciones de vez en cuando, como “The kill”, “A beautiful lie”, “Closer to the edge” y muchas más que ahora no recuerdo los títulos.
Un besote muy grande y enhorabuena por tus entradas musicales, gracias a ti ya no me siento un bicho raro por conocer a grupos que la mayoría de los que me rodean ni les suenan.
